Construction

How this series is built

A Flexstone face layer pre-laminated at the factory with a fabric backing to a total thickness of 0.5–0.55 mm. Manufacturers and print providers can go straight to surface printing, embossing and finishing without in-house backing lamination. The laminate keeps the printing and converting advantages of the Flexstone face and gains strength for handling during installation.

FAQ

Flexstone® Wall Fabric — frequently asked questions

Q1What is Flexstone® Wall Fabric?

Flexstone® Wall Fabric is a Flexstone face layer pre-laminated at the factory with a fabric backing, identified by the FAB5 suffix. Total thickness is 0.5 mm or 0.55 mm. Wallcovering manufacturers and print providers can go straight to surface printing, embossing and finishing without laminating a backing themselves, and the laminate gains strength that makes it easier to handle during installation.

Q2Which grades and printers does Flexstone® Wall Fabric cover?

There are eight grades in 50 m × 1500 mm rolls. S-coated grades (FS-S22-FAB5, FS-S27-FAB5, FM-S22-FAB5, FM-S27-FAB5) are for (eco) solvent, latex and wide-format UV inkjet printing with a gloss of 3–8. K-coated grades (FS-K20-FAB5, FS-K25-FAB5, FM-K20-FAB5, FM-K25-FAB5) are for wide-format UV inkjet with a gloss of 9–12. Opacity is ≥95% on FS grades and ≥92% on FM grades.

Q3Can Flexstone® Wall Fabric replace PVC wallcovering in fire-rated projects?

Not at present. According to the Flexstone wallcovering brochure, Flexstone currently cannot fully replace PVC wallcovering in applications with stringent fire-safety requirements, and halogen-free, eco-friendly fire-retardant formulations are still under development. For wallcovering applications without special fire-rating requirements, it offers a chlorine-free, plasticizer-free alternative that the brochure describes as compliant with RoHS, REACH and other international standards.

Q4Is Flexstone® Wall Fabric suitable for kitchens and bathrooms?

The Flexstone wallcovering brochure describes the material as fully waterproof, dimensionally stable and tear-resistant, with no expansion or contraction as humidity changes, and names kitchens, bathrooms and other humid environments as suitable. Unlike pure paper wallcovering, it does not disintegrate when wet. Typical uses are residential wallcoverings and custom murals, hotel guest rooms, office spaces and commercial displays.
