Flexstone Stone Paper for Wide-Format Inkjet Printing

Non-adhesive Flexstone roll media for (eco) solvent, HP Latex and wide-format UV inkjet printers. Six grades cover the soft, paper-like FS series (density 1.0) and the rigid FG series (density 1.4) in 0.22, 0.27 and 0.32 mm, supplied as 50 m rolls in 1270, 1370 and 1524 mm widths. Inherent water resistance makes the material a durable choice for posters, washable labels and restaurant menus.

Construction

How this series is built

Flexstone Eco-Material replaces wood pulp with calcium carbonate mineral powder compounded with resin, so no trees and no process water are consumed in production. A specially engineered coating ensures excellent ink adhesion, while the warm white, opaque surface reproduces the tonal range and colour fidelity of high-resolution images. The S coating is matched to (eco) solvent, latex and wide-format UV inkjet inks and has a matte 3–8° gloss.

FAQ

Flexstone® Inkjet Media — frequently asked questions

Q1Which printers and inks is Flexstone® Inkjet Media compatible with?

Flexstone® Inkjet Media carries the S coating, which is specified for (eco) solvent, HP Latex and wide-format UV inkjet printers. The coating is matte with a gloss of 3–8, whiteness of ≥82 (wb) and opacity of ≥90%. It is not a digital press or offset grade: for HP Indigo use the 2I grades (for dry toner, the FG digital press grades, NMEQS-MACO 298), and for offset use the 2K grades (for flexo and screen, the FS / FG 2K grades from 0.15 to 0.30 mm, specification sheet NMEQS-MACO 293).

Q2What thicknesses and roll sizes does Flexstone® Inkjet Media come in?

There are six grades. The soft FS series (density 1.0) is offered as FS-S22, FS-S27 and FS-S32 at 220±22, 270±27 and 320±32 g/m². The rigid FG series (density 1.4) is offered as FG-S22, FG-S27 and FG-S32 at 300±30, 370±37 and 440±44 g/m². Thicknesses are 0.22, 0.27 and 0.32 mm. Standard rolls are 50 m long in 1270, 1370 and 1524 mm widths.

Q3Can Flexstone® Inkjet Media be printed on both sides?

Standard supply of the S-coated inkjet grades is printable on one side. According to the HP Latex specification sheet (NMEQS-MACO 297), two-side printable material is available on customer request. If a job needs two-side wide-format UV inkjet printing from stock grades, the 2K grades FS-2K20 to FS-2K30 and FG-2K20 to FG-2K30 are two-side coated and are also listed as 50 m rolls for wide-format UV inkjet (NMEQS-MACO 296).

Q4Is Flexstone® Inkjet Media suitable for outdoor use?

Flexstone is inherently water-resistant, and the specification sheets name outdoor posters, washable labels and restaurant menus among its applications. Its outdoor durability is nevertheless limited compared with PVC, so it is recommended for indoor graphics and short-term outdoor posters rather than long-term outdoor signage. Applications with strict fire-safety requirements still call for flame-retardant PVC.
