FAQ

Flexstone® Self-Adhesive Inkjet Media — frequently asked questions

Q1What is the difference between PSA and WRA on Flexstone® Self-Adhesive Inkjet Media?

PSA is a middle-tack permanent adhesive with medium initial adhesion and a non-carrier design. It adheres easily to mostly smooth surfaces, sticks firmly once fixed and is not removable. WRA is a water-based, eco-friendly removable adhesive with medium tack that is suitable for semi-rough and smooth surfaces. Choose PSA for graphics that must stay in place and WRA for graphics that will be taken down.

Q2Which printers can run Flexstone® Self-Adhesive Inkjet Media?

It depends on the grade. The S-coated FS-S22-PSA-80G and FS-S22-WRA-80G are specified for (eco) solvent, HP Latex and wide-format UV inkjet printers (specification sheet NMEQS-MACO 294). FS-S22-PSA and FS-S27-PSA are listed on the HP Latex specification sheet (NMEQS-MACO 297) and are specified for HP Latex only. All four are supplied as 50 m rolls in 1270, 1370 and 1524 mm widths. K-coated grades — FS-K15-PSA-80G and FS-K20-PSA-80G — are for wide-format UV inkjet and are supplied in 1270 and 1370 mm widths. All grades are printable on one side.

Q3How strong is the adhesive on Flexstone® Self-Adhesive Inkjet Media?

For both PSA and WRA, the specification sheet gives a holding power of 0.5 kg on a 25 × 25 mm area for 24 hours without slide, and a rolling-ball initial adhesion of 8–10# steel ball within 100 mm under GB/T 4852-2002. The specified application condition is -20℃ to 60℃ at 20% to 80% relative humidity, with temperature variation within 30 minutes kept below 15℃.

Q4Can Flexstone® Self-Adhesive Inkjet Media replace self-adhesive PVC?

For indoor work, yes. The face film is chlorine-free and plasticizer-free, so there is no plasticizer migration, and it suits indoor decorative stickers, brand store and exhibition graphics, hotel and commercial interiors and short-term promotions. It does not replace PVC everywhere: PVC conforms better to curved and irregular surfaces and has better outdoor weatherability, and applications with strict fire-safety requirements still need flame-retardant PVC.
